  • Overview

     

    What would the Legacy Business Intelligence & Research Manager do?  This position will have regular interaction with Senior Management. The selected candidate will be an experienced individual in Personal Auto with a successful track record in Business Intelligence and Research instrumental in the execution of our strategic plan and achieving the Company’s top & bottom line objectives.  Provide leadership including strategic direction, process implementation, and people management for the Business Intelligence and Research Unit.

     

    Responsibilities

    More specifically Business intelligence & Research Manager will:

     

    • Collaborates and ensures close partnerships with product management, marketing/sales, SIU, pricing, underwriting, claims and others
    • Regularly collaborates with UW, Claims, Marketing and Pricing teams
    • Monitors competition and develops intelligence, shifts in market as competitors take rate and tracks ranking of current programs via InsurQuote or other competitive rating tools
    • Identify, develop and manage both processes and associates who research, submit and maintain rate/rule/form information applicable to Personal Lines of Business, as well as endorsements based on regulatory or legislative updates, claims activity or emerging trends
    • Provides monthly metrics & data reports to assist in monitoring claims trends: frequency/severity, average paid, expenses, SIU and fraud trends, etc
    • Researches competitor manuals/rules, including competitor forms and policies to identify possible new policy exclusions or new restrictions used in the market
    • Proactively analyzes and provides monthly metrics & agent profile data reports to assist marketing in managing profitable agency relationships, including new & renewal business promotion incentives, programs tailored for individual producers, and rehabilitation criteria
    • Analyzes data trends and provides product and sales performance improvement recommendations to management and peer-level business associates
    • Develop policies and procedures for the collection and analysis of data
    • Oversees the review, validation and deployment to the data warehouse/BI tool
    • Creates or discovers new data procurement processes, combining our internal data with external data for a robust data warehouse
    • Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Successful candidates will have :

     

    • A four-year degree in marketing, business or related field
    • 5+ years’ experience in an insurance Product Manager, Senior Underwriting Manager or Business Intelligence Manager role
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to manage and execute simultaneous projects and tasks
    • Aptitude for designing products based on high level conceptualization, utilizing cross-functional insights and expertise
    • Strong critical thinking skills utilizing analytical, quantitative and data-driven approach to decision making, problem solving and strategic development
    • Advanced oral and written communication skills with ability to convey new product information to a broad audience with differing needs
    • Demonstrated record of partnering with teams across an organization and influencing to achieve business results across multiple teams who may have competing goals
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, understand trade-offs and/or new opportunities with technical and non-technical employees
    • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and time management skills
    • Effective presentation skills to small and large groups

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 10+ years of professional job-related Sr. Underwriting, Product Management, Pricing and/or Business Intelligence experience
    • Advanced degree a plus
