Overview

This position will support Claims & Underwriting staff in conducting suspect auto claims fraud investigations. The position has a combination of field and desk investigation responsibilities depending upon the complexity, exposure and venue of the claim fraud investigation assignment. This position will be located in our Henderson Nevada office. The position will focus on the state of Nevada and at time, other states as needed.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the SIU Investigator include but are not limited to:

 

  • Review referrals to determine if further investigation is warranted by the SIU Department.
  • Review all automobile theft and fire losses & when applicable, provide guidance to the handling adjuster.
  • Assist & guide the UW & Claims Departments respectively in the handling of questionable claims/applications on a daily basis as needed.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement, Department of Insurance officials and insurance industry personnel & assist them when required.
  • Update the SIU database to maintain a record of daily & monthly logs of SIU referrals addressed.
  • Conduct SIU training class for the claims & underwriting staff.
  • Assist the UW & Claims Departments in the utilization of databases such as NICB & ISO.
  • Maintain active membership in professional organizations that provide SIU assistance & resources.
  • Up to 50% travel in & out-of-state.

Qualifications

  • The candidate needs to have the required field knowledge of the sector as well as adequate knowledge about laws pertaining to insurance. 
  • Prior insurance fraud investigation experience a must. 
  • Law Enforcement experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate automobile claim & policy information & other data sources for fraud indicators and analyze the data to detect fraud trends or red flags.
  • Ability to interpret public record information systems and claims history in order to support the investigative process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • An equivalent combination of training or experience estimating experience or work as a claims adjuster, a property damage adjuster
  • Industry related designations (FCLS, CIFI, CFE) a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience in conducting automobile SIU claim investigation a plus but not required.
